New Albany Vietnam War Memorial
The New Albany Plain Township Historical Society is raising funds for a memorial to commemorate the soon-approaching 50th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
For too many years the American servicemen and women who fought and died during the Vietnam War have gone unnoticed. New Albany, Ohio wants all to know that we honor those Vietnam War Veterans who have lived and worked in our city.

Veteran’s Memorial at Rose Run Park
Our life-size bronze statue, to be placed in New Albany’s planned Veteran’s Park, depicts Eleanor Butsko placing her Gold Star Service Flag on the door of her home. The house once sat on Bevelhymer Rd where the Rocky Fork Metro Park now is. Her flag was hung in honor of her oldest son Albert “Mike” Butsko who was New Albany’s only casualty during the war. Mike, serving as a Navy Hospitalman with the Marines, was killed on September 10th 1967 while on one of his “missions of mercy” as a comrade wrote.
